About

John Repass founded Repass Intelligence to do one thing: connect what a company already knows to the people who need it, without replacing the systems or the people.

Background

I have been building and connecting business systems since 1995. The tools have changed several times over. The problem has not: the knowledge a company needs is scattered across systems that were never designed to talk to each other.

Earlier work spans search technology, streaming media, VoIP, and large-scale ISP infrastructure in Silicon Valley, followed by ERP, CRM, and infrastructure design for established mid-market companies. That combination shapes how I work: an understanding of what is possible, and a bias toward what will actually hold up in a company that has to keep operating while it changes.

Focus

Workers' compensation, PEO, insurance, and professional services: businesses with intricate compliance requirements, long document trails, and institutional knowledge that cannot simply be replaced.

Current posture

I work deeply with a small number of clients rather than broadly with many. I am open to a conversation about a specific problem, and I will say plainly if it is not a fit.

A sentence or two about the problem is enough to start.

Questions people ask

Do you replace our systems?

No. The systems you already run stay, and a layer connects them. Rip-and-replace is a last resort, not a starting point.

Where does our data go?

Sensitive material stays on hardware I own, inside your network boundary. Hosted models are used only where the data classification allows, and never for protected health information or payroll detail.

Do you use ChatGPT?

I use several models, hosted and local, chosen by what the data permits and what the task needs. None of them is the product. The product is the connection between your systems and the people who need answers from them.

Can you work with our existing IT people or provider?

Yes. The work is additive, and I document what I build so that it can be run without me.

What does a first conversation cost?

Nothing. It is usually an hour, and it ends with a plain answer about whether this is a fit.

How do you handle confidentiality?

Client work is not described publicly, not even in general terms that could identify a client. That rule is enforced on this site by an automated test.

What about HIPAA?

Workers' compensation and benefits work touches protected health information. I treat a corpus as containing PHI until a survey shows otherwise, process anything that does on hardware I own, keep it away from hosted models, and design access and logging around the HIPAA Security Rule from the first day rather than retrofitting it.
